  • We don't differentiate between exempt and non-exempt, but we allow up to 5 days for a family member to include spouse, child, parent, grandparent, or the in-law version of the above. The manager has the authority to extend additional leave if circumstances warrant it, and an employee can extend their berevement leave with PTO if they choose.
  • We don't distinguish between exempt and non exempts in our policy, either.

The Company grants leave of absence to employees in the event of the death of the employee’s current spouse, child, parent, legal guardian, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, or mother-, father-, sister-, brother-, son-, or daughter-in-law. An employee with such a death in the family may take up to _____ consecutive scheduled work days off with pay with the approval of the Company. The employee’s supervisor may approve additional unpaid time off.
  • Purpose: To provide employees with leave to attend funerals for family members without suffering loss of pay.

Policy: A paid leave of absence for up to three (3) working days may be granted to a full-time employee in the event of a death in his or her immediate family, which, for the purpose of this policy, shall include husband, wife, child or grandchild of the employee; parent of the employee; parent of the employee's spouse; lineal grandparent of the employee; or brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law of the employee.
