Anybody out there have any experience with SAP software? We are considering converting to SAP "for all our business needs". Hope someone can give me some pros and cons.

We just implemented SAP. So far it seems to be a good organization-wide program, however, it definitely is not a user-friendly HRIS system. Things that the HR folks took for granted such as pulling up an employee and having summary info immediately such as their position, supervisor, union, etc., are found on many different screens, that you have to go back and forth a lot to piece together all the pieces of information you need when you look up an employee. I have heard from our consultants that HR employees typically aren't as happy with SAP, since it isn't as user-friendly as the HRIS systems we are used to working with are.

The State of Louisiana went to an automated HR-Payroll system in 2001 using SAP. I agree it sometimes is difficult to navigate from one screen to another to get information, but since we had no automated HR System prior to SAP we don't know any better. We don't use it for any other business needs other than HR and payroll, so I can't comment on other uses.
