Fingerprinting

We are a small bank and, while we do background checks through a vendor, we do not fingerprint. I'm interested in what everyone is doing as far as fingerprinting?

We are in the health care industry and we are required by state law to fingerprint all new hires that may have direct patient contact. we actually do the fingerprinting ourselves and send the prints to the State for processing. State charges us $50 each.

We too are in banking. We do not fingerprint. So far every audit and exam we have had is fine with the fact that we simply to criminal background checks using Name, SSN, and DOB to gather the information. I would guess that we will continue on as is until the auditors/examiners tell that we must begin finger printing.

We fingerprint through the County Sheriffs Department, who then run them for any State hits. The prints are forwarded to the highway patrol, when then run them for national hits.

Same boat here. The examiners haven't brought it up in any of our audits, although we certainly wouldn't resist it if they did.

I've never fingerprinted, but I've fingerpainted. One's probably just as messy as the other.

We are a $600M bank and we do fingerprint new hires. We do our own fingerprints and run them through the ABA, which has access to the FBI database. You may want to refer to the FDIC pre-employment screening guidance for additional info. You can find it at
