Help on job title?

Thought I would ask for ideas... we have a new position that will be a janitor/handyman... :-)This is the job title that has been suggested, however, I'm trying to think of something a little more professional (??). The primary duties will be janitorial, but they will also run errands, help out in the maintenance dept (some painting, minor carpentry, etc.) Small facility so will be helping out here and there...

I really like to tell it like it is and what you have is just fine by me I find it accurate and easily understood by applicants. But if not Minor Repair/Enviromental Maintenance Technician.

We call our janitors "custodians" and the people who do the other jobs you mentioned are "maintenance assistants." If a job has multiple roles, we use the classification (title) that accounts for more the 50% of the duties.

Besides, what if you end up with a handyWOMAN? We've had several.

Maintenance assistant fits very well.

You might check with the person who posted the issue about the sex video tape mailing, and see if she has any qualified ex-employees.

We use Environmental Services Coordinator for the employee who performs these duties for us.

We use Facilities Maintenance for our job title. The individual does a little bit of everything around here from moving shred to cleaning litter off the grounds, replacing lightbulbs, etc.

In my prior life we called the person the "facilities coordinator" even though they were janitorial. (They liked kinder and gentler names. I like custodian. I think it tell what they will be doing.)

We called them Maintenance Custodian's.
