Travel Stipend

How many of you offer a travel stipend to your ee's that travel, and if so, whats your policy? We are doing much more travel these days, and it's becoming part of our business. But we are seeing a push back from our ee's.

By travel stipend, are you referring to mileage/expenses/per diem?

Our policy is that we pay for all airfare/lodging/car rentals as well as meals and incidentals such as parking fees, etc.

If it involves travel by personal vehicle, then we pay mileage, unless the perosn receives a vehicle allowance (most members of management) in which case we only reimburse for fuel.

We only pay the federal per diem rate for each city/location, buy the plane ticket, or pay the federal mileage rate for use of POV.

We pay wages during travel time per DOL policy. Incidentals are paid. A per diem is paid for meals. No additional compensation for travel.

Same here, we pay them for their time and if they use their personal vehicle we pay them so much per mile. If they have incidental expenses, meals, loding, etc. they fill out an expense voucher and attach their receipts and we repay them for these costs.

[font size="1" color="#FF0000"]LAST EDITED ON 08-05-05 AT 10:42AM (CST)[/font][br][br]We pay IRS max cents per mile to and from the airport, all flight and lodging expenses, every traveler has a company credit card for incidentals and meals as well as a telephone credit card. Really the traveler doesn't even have to carry pocket change. I think the manual says we will not pay for stenographic services, barber or boot-black and that's about all.

It seems that employees believe that they should be compensated more if they are away.

Compensated more or have all their expenses paid? I don't understand their logic if they simply feel they should have their pay rate raised when they travel. Tell them they are actually spending less personal funds for food and gas while they are traveling so maybe you should LOWER their pay while they travel. x:-)
