pay upon termination

A recently terminated employee stated "under Alabama law, you are required to pay me immediately upon termination" That's news to me. My response was, "we will have your paycheck processed and available on the normal pay cycle" (which is weekly). Is there any requirment that he be paid any sooner? What is the maximum amount of time that an employer can wait before a final paycheck is issued.

You are correct. Although some states require pay at the time of termination, Alabama does not. Under the FLSA, you must pay on the normal pay cycle.
