employment verifcations

I often complete employment verifications and when the question is asked...Probability of continued employment, I usually put good or likely. I have to complete one now for an ee who is close to termination. What other responses would be appropriate for an ee in good standing and one who is not?

I suggest you should not put anything at all in that column. You are under no obligation to enter into the speculation as to whether or not the employee might continue as an employee.

I don't put anything in those columns and when the agent calls because I didn't fill it out I normally reply that employment at our company is At Will - so speculation beyond today is just that and not relevant.

I do not put anything in that column-If they call and push I tell them that company policy does not allow me to answer that question-If they push some more, I tell them I left my "crystal ball " at home-Then, they usually laugh, say thanks and go away!!!

Ditto. Don't answer this question. I'm sure some carfty attorney could use it to alter the at-will employment of the individual if it ever came down to it.

We don't verify any employment without signed consent/release from the employee, and in this case, I would put "consider".

I answer by saying we are an employer at-will.

We always put "company policy not to comment". We have never had anyone question it - not banks, mortgage companies, etc.
