I was certain that was the case. Our funding was drastically cut and management was advised they would temporarily not be reimbursed. Some folks, understandably, are not happy about it as almost all of our travel is "required" and not frivolous. Not to mention the tolls involved. Yes it can be deducted from income tax but it sure isn't the same.
I know I would be peeved. It seems like too much to ask (even though it's legal) for ee's to front hundreds of dollars for plane tickets, expensive (and usually crappy) meals, gas money, rental car fees, etc. I would NOT be a happy camper if I was employed there.
my hubby travels and generally, we have to front the $$$...some months, it's really really hard. The mortgage payment is on hold until the reimbursement arrives...which often takes 2-5 weeks...and if it's a last minute trip...sigh....
we don't like it...but like so many...we need the job.
