I recently was hired by the family of a nursing home resident to attend a care plan meeting on their behalf. Immediately upon entering the meeting I informed the others present that I would be recording the meeting. They advised me that if I wanted to tape the meeting they were required by company policy to do the same. They got their recorder and the meeting proceeded without a hitch. Sometimes it's just a matter of not wanting to take detailed notes right on the spot, but being able to render an accurate report at a later date. On the other hand you certainly want to check out your company policy with your attorney. The scenario above leaves no room for anyone to manipulate or edit the tapes and hopefully the employee would realize that.
