How long should I-9's be kept on file for current/active employees? How often should the employee fill out a new i-9?

You do not need a new I-9 for a change of address.
If you can explain to me why a name change would initiate the I-9 form to be updated I would appreciate it. I just don't see the link between verfifying an employee's authorization to work in the U.S. when they are first employed with updating the I-9 form if they get married with no expiration of documents occuring, especially if the person is a U.S. citizen and documents provided were the SS# and driver's license.
