Federal Record Retention Requirements

Does anyone have a guide for record retention? I am in the process of creating a table that explains the law, a brief summary, and the length of time a record must be kept. However, I have found dome discrepancies. I recognize that state laws may vary, but I was wondering if anyone already have a guide or a list of the federal requirements.
